Armada Trading Technologies grew out of Boatwright, an open-source Python package for researching and deploying automated investment strategies. Today, the company is preparing to bring both Boatwright and the TradeWinds mobile app to a wider market.
Company history
The starting point
Boatwright began as an individual effort to develop automated trading systems for personal investment accounts. The project grew into a reusable Python package for developing, backtesting, optimizing, and deploying investment strategies.
2024 · Company formation
Boatwright was pitched as a product for the newly formed Armada Trading Technologies. The plan was to grow a community around the open-source package and build a B2B business through dedicated quantitative research, broker-interface integrations, and market-data integrations.
2024 · Early validation
The Boatwright pitch won two competitions in 2024, earning $5,000 at each: the UW–Madison Transcend Innovation Competition and the CS-NEST pitch competition.
The next product
Armada is now developing TradeWinds, a mobile app with a stronger path to a large, non-technical userbase. TradeWinds brings market forecasting and measurable prediction records into an accessible consumer interface.

Boatwright is available now as an open-source package on GitHub. TradeWinds is nearing the end of its initial development cycle, with an alpha launch expected by the end of 2026. Product demonstrations are available upon request.
